This year Coronavirus didn’t stop us and we were able to hold a Christmas Grotto Experience for our families! We held our event at Well-being at Garon Park.
We were able to accommodate over 30 families to our magical event, not forgetting the Mayor of Southend. Upon arrival, children were able to write a letter to Santa and post it in our letterbox so the big man knew what to bring them at Christmas. We also had an activity tent where children could get creative and take their creations home with them. This included biscuit decorating, plate decorating and wooden decoration decorating.
A BIG THANK YOU goes out to everyone who made this years Christmas event possible….. Everyone at Wellbeing Garon Park who provided the venue and really did make it magical and adaptable for all (too many names to list but a shout out to Kay, Mark, Lucy, Liam and all the helpers behind the scenes). Lorraine from Asda’s Shoeburyness for a special delivery of items to ensure everyone was well catered for on the evening, Tesco’s Prince avenue for making our life’s so much easier with festive items to help our crafts, Chris Toy Box and Bouncy Castle Hire for delivering the gifts in time for Santa and for the continued support with raising funds for special activities like this from Shared Space Westcliff, local businesses and organisations and our families and friends. The physical presences of families, friends and supporters is also very much appreciated too as without you all it just could not happen.
This is all in addition to months of prep behind the scenes with ideas, planning, scheduling, purchasing etc….. all those hundreds of emails and messages sent to everyone. It may appear on the outside as a one day event but it has taken a considerable amount of time to try and make it as right as possible for so many children with varying needs. And then throw in some extra covid rules and regulations just beforehand, but we did it and had safely entertained over 100 guests throughout the day!!!!!
Now we are off to take a few days break and wish you all a very Merry Christmas and a Happy New Year!
