Wowzers – Social distancing does not have to mean social isolation!

What a strange time it is at the moment with Covid-19!

It has definitely made it more challenging for everyone and even more so for families of children with additional needs.

Just a very short update to let you know Little Heroes ASD Support Group is still fully functional supporting many families in such positive ways as per normal.

It has took time to put changes in place but over the past 14 weeks we have seen our community grow and support one another even more.

The Little Heroes ASD SUPPORT HUB is slowly progressing. Email, telephone and social media contact and support continues. Weekly drop in sessions have turnt to weekly zoom sessions every Friday at 11am (email littleheroes.asd@gmail.com) for more details. Our family activity sessions have developed into weekly activities via zoom, we have even had the circus in our homes! Once again email us for details.

During this time we have delivered over 300 packages to as many of our registered families as possible. This has included thinking of you packs, children’s activity packs, food packs, internet packs, technology packs, refuel pamper packs, Mindful Monsters, activity session kits, emergency shopping and even the Trust Links family activity kits. This has been made possible by our wonderful volunteers who do this because they really do understand, as a grass roots organisation everyone that is involved in the group has personal experiences and connections with autism.

As restrictions start to reduce, we are looking at how to move forward and we need to know what our families feel. Therefore we have put together a short survey that we would appreciate you take 5 minutes to complete, open and honestly, detailing any suggestions. Please visit https://www.surveymonkey.co.uk/r/9LYKH3X?fbclid=IwAR2pF58aeyjxfBq1U4_hvKmvvtltRYF5NcUyHAjUERxB23MsQ1V6g2j0cvY

We are looking at all aspects – should we open the hub doors with a booking system in place and restricted number? Should we start sessions in an outdoor secure area? Should we only have 2 families at a time in the hub? This is why we need to know what you want and feel, to ensure we get it as best as we can for as many people as we can. Please be as open and honest.

Hopeful that a slow integration will be the right way forward whilst keeping everyone as safe and secure as can be.

Meanwhile sending all our love and well wishes to you and your families.

The Little Heroes team
